Establishment of Kaneka Europe Holding company in Belgium
As from October 1, 2015, Kaneka Corporation (further: Kaneka), headquartered in Osaka and Tokyo, establishes a European holding company in Brussels, Belgium, aiming to accelerate its business development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (further : EMEA). Along with this, Kaneka Belgium, Kaneka Pharma Europe and Eurogentec are horizontally structured under the new holding company.
Kaneka, which was established in 1949 in Japan as an R&D and technology driven company, spans a broad spectrum of markets, ranging from chemicals, food products and life science to electrical materials.
Kaneka became one of the pioneers by building the first Japanese overseas chemical production unit in Europe (Belgium) in early 1970’s. Since then, Kaneka Belgium* has grown to become one of the cornerstones of globalization of the Kaneka Group. Traditionally it has been active in the production, marketing and distribution of functional and foamed plastics, and moreover expanded its modifier business by two important business acquisitions in 2011 and 2013 in Germany. Kaneka further extended its market to life science business in Europe in 1994 with the establishment of Kaneka Pharma Europe*, and, in 2010, acquired the majority of shares of the Belgian company Eurogentec*, thus underscoring again its interests in life science industry. Kaneka’s business in Europe has exceeded a total annual turnover of 360 million Euro as of March 2015 and employs about 600 people in Europe.
Mamoru Kadokura, President of Kaneka says, “Kaneka Europe Holding is expected to accelerate business expansion and to achieve further dynamic growth toward 2020 by designing the strategy of business portfolio expansion and strengthening market development in the EMEA region, in strategic domains such as “environment and energy”, “food production support”, “health care” and “information and communication”. It will also exert an effective governance on its subsidiaries, and implement an efficient group management under the holding structure”.
Kaneka Corporation vestigt regionaal hoofdkantoor in Europa
