Kaneka Corporation announces Kaneka MS Polymer™ investment in Europe to meet growing demand
Kaneka Corporation (Headquarters Tokyo, Japan) announced a new investment to increase the production capacities of silane terminated polymers (product name: Kaneka MS Polymer™) in Europe at its Kaneka Belgium plant, located in Westerlo. Kaneka MS Polymer™ is the active base resin for high-quality sealants, adhesives, and coatings.
Kaneka Corporation is further extending its global supply position in the silane terminated polymer market by expanding its production capacity of Kaneka MS Polymer™ at its site in Westerlo, Belgium. The approximate 5 billion Yen investment in a fourth state-of-the-art production line supports a sustainable integrated, innovative Kaneka MS Polymer™ operation scheduled for June 2024. Building on its previous capacity increase in 2018, this new project will expand Kaneka's MS Polymer capacity in Europe by another 10,000 tons annually, totaling up to 43,000 tons annually.
Thanks to its innovative portfolio and excellent properties, Kaneka MS Polymer™ is used in a wide variety of markets, such as building & construction, industry, transportation, flooring, waterproofing, DIY, and many others. Moreover, the ecologically sound character of the product is highly valued in international markets. Kaneka MS Polymers do not contain isocyanates or solvents and, as such, fully comply with the regulatory VOC emission standards.
"The demand for environmentally friendly adhesives and sealants is undergoing rapid growth in Europe. With our MS polymer base resins, we relentlessly focus on innovation and sustainability. Environmental benefits and new market opportunities inspire us in the transition to a cleaner and climate-resilient economy,” explains Olivier Renson, General Manager of Performance Polymers Solutions Vehicle EMEA. "Kaneka has a long history in pioneering and innovating performance polymer technologies. This investment further demonstrates our strong commitment to our customers and sustainable goals," underlines Renson.
With established production bases in Europe, the United States, Japan, and Asia, Kaneka can respond to the market's specific needs. Driving forward, we will continue expanding our Kaneka MS Polymer™ capacity opportunely to meet growing demands, boost our global supply system, and strengthen our position as a top manufacturer.
